The Brain Journey at WXRF19

During the World XR Forum 2019 (WXRF19), 389 people were connected in virtual reality at the same time, in the same place, to discover and journey through the complexities of the brain.

On Saturday September 7th, at the Régent in Crans-Montana, and supported by the foundations Les Rencontres and Agalma, the participants of Surprises du Cerveau – saison II connected in virtual reality and journeyed through the brain to discover how emotions are triggered.

The performance was born from the collaboration of World XR, Samsung XR, and the HES-SO Sierre.

The scientists and artists who created the content, based it on four emotions which are present in all cultures; joy, sadness, disgust and fear. They included two additional emotions; anger and astonishment. It was an invitation to learn more about the complexities of the brain and Antoine Widmer’s lab will explore how virtual reality can help understand how the brain works and, from the data they collected, will document it in a report.

In the first act, engineers and scientists took up the challenge of connecting 389 people in virtual reality at the same time, in the same place.

The work between Samsung XR and the HES-SO University guaranteed the technical success of the performance.
