In 2018, Crans-Montana hosted a month-long artist-in-residence dedicated to the production of a work in virtual reality, for the first time.
The winner, Pierre Friquet, whose project for an underwater VR experience was selected by an international jury, set up shop at the Sport Palace to create his prototype in the hotel swimming pool.
Accompanied by Valérie Felix, Pierre found inspiration in Crans-Montana and continued to develop his project thereafter.
Spaced Out premiered during the WXRF19
Pierre’s project, Spaced Out, was presented as a world premiere in Crans-Montana in September 2019. In October, it was at the Valais fair during Culture Day. And finally, in December, the prestigious Sundance Festival in the United States announced the nomination of the project for its 2020 edition. The event is renowned for announcing trends in the industry. The project that already made the headlines will be presented in Park City from January 24 to February 2, 2020, in the New Frontier categories.
