About The Speaker

Remote Planet

Remot planet is an interactive media player that allows you to remotely immerse yourself into live audiovisual performances carefully designed for virtual reality and augmented reality devices. Dive at the core of intimistic live concerts and narratives that seamlessly move between reality and virtuality.

PLANET – LOOKING FOR MAJOR TOM

Georg Bleikolm staged his latest album as an immersive audiovisual performance at Gessnerallee in Zurich last January.  Inspired by David Bowie’s Space Oddity, the transmedial concert-installation invites the audience to get lost on a journey through the universe. The 5 shows at Gessnerallee were sold out and the immersive setup resonated strongly with the audience.

Concept, direction et texts – Georg Bleikolm
Music et performance – Georg Bleikolm, Nicolas Stocker, Steve Buchanan
Videos et projections – Pascal Arnold, Moritz Flachsmann
A RAVEUR LAB production in collaboration with Gessnerallee Zürich. Supported by the city of Zurich, the Swiss Arts Council – Pro Helvetia, Ernst Göhner Stiftung, Migros Kulturprozent.

SETTING UP

Imagine: you enter a concert hall and you take the most central position in the room. On the stage in front of you, a Lebowski like figure is resting his feet in a bathtub. On your left, you discover another stage where a step dancer is warming up his shoes and his electronic gear. The third stage, located on your right, is hosting a drummer. Now you look up and you realise that what you suppose to be the first aftermath of the colorful drink you had at the bar earlier this evening, is actually a gigantic 360° mapped sphere floating above your head. A projection screen lights up behind each stage, achieving to transport your mind into an intergalactic storyworld. The trap for an hour of intensive immersion in light and music is set.

VISION

Back in the studio, inspired by the success of the show and recent readings about virtual concerts bound to MMORPGs, Georg figured it would be great to be able to share this show with more people. He decided to engage into a full 360° documentation of the project and to work and develop a first prototype of the envisioned interactive media player together with Tabea Iseli a serial game developer based in Zurich, Switzerland
